Application for CTOA Sponsorship of an Event These two documents are to be filled out and submitted by race management of events, or Fleet Leader of region, that request CTOA sanction and/or sponsorship, and/or want to become part of the Regional Points Regatta series for the Corsair Cup and other awards. CTOA Demo Day & Rendezvous Initiative - Dates are Approximate CTOA Member/Event Organizer (Boat Show, Regatta, Waterfront Festival, etc.) decides to host a Demo Day & Rendezvous----optimum lead time: 4 months. Contact
Corsair immediately (corsair@corsairmarine.com)
with the following information: A Notice or Invitation is
posted on the CTOA list server with two goals: 2-3 months out (optimum), & assuming there has been a positive response from skippers, (if none, or too few, have responded to the CTOA list, some sort of petition drive may be implemented to encourage participants), a letter is sent to all potential guests within a reasonable drive’s distance from the Rendezvous asking them to attend & go on a demo sail. Potential skippers and guests may also be contacted directly by Corsair or CTOA member. Prospects contact either Corsair or the CTOA member to indicate their wish to demo----what boat they prefer & any other pertinent information: number in party, a contact phone (cell is good),maybe the best time for their demo, level of sailing skill, & whether they’d like to participate in a rendezvous/BBQ/? etc….. Corsair collects all data and creates a demo schedule, which is checked, re-checked and verified right up until the day before the demo is to occur. It is circulated to demo skippers whenever updated and demo-ees are contacted one day prior to confirm attendance. Demo Day----Corsair or volunteer host, Meets & Greets----tries to hold everyone to schedule, keeps it rolling until the food & beer arrive and you can stop herding cats because everyone shows up for the fun. Corsair will pay for food & beverages---within a budget yet to be determined. Free tees if possible. BBQ-----this is something that will be worked out on a case by case basis. Could be snackin’ food all day, could be a burger ‘n beer do in the late afternoon. Let’s do whatever seems easy, fun & appealing. Based on size of event----Corsair or CTOA volunteer will host. (big & crazy: Corsair. Small & easy: Volunteer.) If bad weather cancels the demo-ing, an alternative plan for a rendezvous should be available: a time & place to party a little or something of the sort. Because we are just
starting this program, we need to remain flexible as to how different
situations play out. A very small turn-out can still be a positive
experience. A complete no-show event is a bummer, but in that case
we’ll go back to the drawing boards with everyones’ input to find
out what happened & how it might be fixed. Regional CTOA Rendezvous! Corsair Marine would like to sponsor a CTOA weekend Rendezvous/Sail-in in the following regions per the schedule: 8/03 Pacific Northwest: WA, OR, ID, AK (include BC, AL, SK, MB Canada) 9/03 Northeast: NY, CT, MA, NH, ME, VT, RI 10/03 East Coast: NJ, NC, VA, WV, MD, DC, DE 2/04 West/Southwest: CA, NV, AZ, CO, UT, NM 3/04 South: TN, MS, AL, FL, GA, SC 4/04 South Central: KS, OK, TX, LA, AR
5/04 East Central:, IL, MO, MI, IN, OH, KY, PA
7/04 West Central: MT, WY, ND, SD, NB, MN, WI, IA
These will be social gatherings with some sailing, some showing off of your boats to people who want to own one some day, a Saturday night party, etc.... Please let Corsair know at corsair@corsairmarine.com if you have a location in mind that we should look into! Any and all ideas, suggestions, etc. welcome and solicited. |
